Roger Conant arrives in Plymouth.

Formerly from Dorsetshire and later called one of the four “Old Planters,” Conant is invited to Cape Ann by Rev. John White to become governor of the Dorchester Company in 1625, then moves its members to Salem (then Naumkeag) in 1626. He moves to Beverly in Beverly in 1628, and then to Conant Island (later Governor’s Island) in Boston Harbor.
